I added some orange to the octopus And really like how it turned out!

When I added the dark blue it looked pretty good, but in this photo I can see more of the unevenness of the water color. I'm wondering if maybe I should have used acrylic instead.

I like how it is so far, I think when the rocket is painted it will be even better.

My wife gave me some button makers for Christmas, and I have made about One hundred buttons. Some didn't work, some I didn't like, and some were pretty cool! I've even sold a few.

These are my favorite buttons that I have done on the larger size. It is original artwork, hand drawn and painted. This is a Caricature of a friend of mine who is pretty cool and whom I respect a lot. Anyone who knows Chris immediately knows that this is him. This fact is super cool!

I want to sell buttons on etsy, but I am not sure how much people would want to buy my buttons of people whom they do not know, and I'm not sure That my ideas would sell very well.

So I have decided to do an experiment. The first Ten people (in the USA) to comment me saying that they want a button, will get a free, all expenses paid, including shipping and handaling, absolutely no charge, hassle free, Chris Taylor, or Chirs Taylor button. It would be my pleasure.

It takes me about 15 minutes to completely make the buttons, that I would normally charge about 2$ for, plus shipping, and you can get it all for free! Don't Pass this up!

some really quick paintings

...more like scribbles. I did these to see how fast I could paint something interesting enough to paste to a wall. I wonder if they would catch your eye? Or if you would drive by again, just to show your friends.

-Wolverine is a badass, I drew him kind of scrawney. It is some sick twisted style I was inspired from the Brackenwood animations, though this isn't at all like Bitey or his friends/antagonists.

This is pasted to a board to see how well my cornstarch paste would hold and how easily I could get it off.

I like the sketch in my sketch book better. What do you think?

Painting Animals

One of my art teachers recently bought a painting from a monkey. I'm sure several of you have seen or heard of Mr Bailey the painting monkey. Many web pages and youtube videos claim that this monkey can create masterpeices, or otherwise works of art. Well I am not too certain where the line is drawn on what is and what isn't art, In fact, I'm not even sure that photography is art, in the same sense as painting is, because photography does not create anything, it only captures an image. (This is not to say there is no skill needed for great photography) However, I am quite certain that a monkey smearing different color paints all over the wall is not and cannot rightfully be called art, Monkey have been smearing their own feces and semen all over walls for ever and no one has ever thought that this was art, or at all beautiful.

However, My teacher did not intend to buy a painting from a monkey. She wanted to buy a painting by an elephant. Where the monkey just smears paint on the canvas, or the wall, or a persons face, Elephants have painted actual pictures, of flowers, of elephants from the back and the side. It seems that it might be possible that an elephant can see something and then draw it with a brush. So is this art? Is the elephant actually creating something, or has it just been trained to paint a certain picture? I don't know, but I think even if it were trained that is art from the trainer. Much better than the smears my teacher ended up with.

So why did my teacher buy a monkey painting instead of an elephant painting?
Well, the elephant died.

Can you imagine that? a dead elephant?

What the hell do you do with a dead elephant?! And you thought it was bad to clean up the mountains of crap all day long, now to find out you get to work and you have to move the whole damned elephant! Holy crap but that would suck!

It is almost 12 o-clock. My wife is calling me to bed. It is another day that I haven't drawn anything at all.

I've made a list today, of things i want to do. And today I've already messed up... Soon i want to do these things:

Sketch- one page per day.
Make a bowl on the wheel- one per day, mon-thurs.
Carve something from foam- once a week.
sculpt something from clay- once a week
paint something- once a month
paste something- once every other month
stencil something-every opposite month

Today I did none of these things. Instead I watched Empire Records (although, a good movie), and stumbled (although I found some good things).

But Fuck! I hate going to bed like this.

So Lawrence Yang, from the Blow at Life blog suggested that I try clay. I have been saving my clay for pottery, but recently I was given several hundred pounds of clay (granted, it needs re-worked, but still it was free.) So I decided to try sculpting with it.

Little goblins are the first things my hands seem to make, and also I have no idea what they should be doing, so this one doesn't have any arms, but I like him. Tell me what you think.

Since this guy I have found a different technique for making the eyes where you dig out the socket, add the eyeball, then put separate lids on. This technique is much more realistic, but I'm not sure I like it as much with the goblins.

I'm still playing with floral foam, I've created a little guy that I like a lot, he's probably my favourite floral foam figure that I've done so far. I really like the smaller figures, They seem more play like, more like a toy. Anyway, here he is:

Isaac sculpture

I decided to carve the cartoon version of my friend Isaac out of floral foam. I wasn't sure, starting off, if I would be able to complete the project, as I have only seen Issac in a 2d form. Transforming Isaac into 3 dimensions was trickier than I had imagined, but in the end I was mostly pleased with the results.

It was too large to scan all at once so I pieced it together in photoshop7 also I don't know how to scan things very well so the colors were messed up a little. I tried to fix that, but got carried away. I like it.

I've been playing around with some floral foam in sculpture class... This is so fun!
This is my first attempt at 3 dimensional art, I decided to sculpt a garden gnome. I have it gesoed so I can paint it, It's face is at the wrong angle.

I also have a plan to make a mold to produce a lot of little gnomes. Working so small it difficult with the foam, the first one's face is screwed up. The second one looks better.

Isaac Comics

I am currently interested in comics that have no superheros because they are great! Although webcomics are very numerous and quite common, I have a small dream to have a webcomic that demands a small following. I would also like to someday make money from my web comic. This would be too cool!
Isaac Comics started as a way to ward off boredom during my school's required chapel time. Myself and some friends discovered that Isaac, a mutual best friend, was a very easy person to draw, and his humorous manner was great for short, one panel, comics. It is one of my goals to have Isaac Comics exist not as a webcomic, but specifically as a t-shirt comic. Who wouldn't want a t-shirt with my best friend doing something humorous? No one that I can think of! (please do not ruin my dream in a comment to this post.) Who knows, maybe it will be big, and someday my designs will be stolen by some cheap fashion company trying to jump on the latest hip thing. The above comic is one of the very first to have been put on a t-shirt. I wore that t-shirt, my brother had that t-shirt, That cute girl that I never dated had that t-shirt. Mine wore out completely and I do not own it anymore.

Currently I am working out the character designs for a comic that I hope will at least get drawn, and then people will view. This comic will probably live under the same name as the Isaac comics, yet I hope it will have more frames, more plot, and more people.
A few years ago I spent the summer in a "client" infested apartment complex with four really good friends. As you can imagine, We had some pretty crazy adventures. I wish to draw these adventures in order that you may read and enjoy them yourselves. This is one if my dearest hopes.

Now, I think I will go doodle.

Sculpture and Muto

This semester I am in an advance sculpture class. Somehow I skipped all previous sculpture classes and have no idea what I am doing. The requirement for this class is: Have five sculptures by the end of the semesters. It's going to be so fun!

One form of artwork that will fall into the sculpture category is video. This has to be some form of conceptual video. I am not sure exactly how this can be considered a sculpture, but having this option may lead to a fun experiment.

I stumbled upon this video today, I've seen it before but today I watched the whole thing. It is kind of creepy, and is not my favorite of this type of animation but it is a good example of a conceptual video "sculpture" for my class. Please watch at least part of it.

This is very interesting, I especially like when the drawing interacts with actual objects, such as eating the paper and knocking things off of the window ledge.
I hope that other artists work was not permanently covered by this project. I have to guess though, that if permission was given to perform this animation, the walls were probably painted over afterward, or at least washed off.
